Cracking the PPT

Cracking the Pre-Entry Proficiency Test (PPT) of ICAP

Pre-Entry Proficiency Test is a condition to take admission in CA program in Pakistan. However, students who have obtained 60% result in FSc (Intermediate) are exempt from PPT.

Although PPT is not a very much tough test, but more than 50% candidates flunk in the test. Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) takes PPT four times each year and the test is administrated in all the major cities of Pakistan.

Content of Pre-Entry Proficiency Test:

Vocabulary - 15 marks
There are 15 vocabulary MCQs on the PPT. The words normally are of middle level and not very much difficult. But, the students those are weak in English find it difficult. Basic SAT vocabulary is recommended for this section.
Few vocabulary questions from past PPT tests:
ZENITH, HONE, GRAPHIC, EXTORTION.

English Grammar - 15 marks
Similar to vocabulary section, there are 15 grammar questions on the PPT test. Grammar in Use by Raymond Murphy or TOEFL grammar is recommend for this section.

PPT Reading Comprehension - 10 marks
PPT test basic English Comprehension skills. Candidates must practice for this section. SAT General's Reading Comprehension is recommended for this section.
