Mathematics (Arithmetic and Logic) section of the PPT

In the previous post we gave a general information of Pre-Entry Proficiency Test (PPT) of Institute of Chartered Accountant of Pakistan (ICAP) and a few words on English section of the test.

Today we are moving towards Mathematics (Arithmetic & Logic)section of PPT.

Mathematics - 20 marks
Content:

• Arithmetic (Average, Percentage, Ratios and Proportion, Time problems, word problems)
• Logic (Simple logical questions, series etc) 

Arithmetic in O-Level Mathematics (Mathematics Book 1 of Oxford) is recommended for this section.

Few types of questions from past PPT.

1. Find arithmetic mean (average) of the numbers: 8, 0, 3, 7, 12

(A) 4

(B) 5

(C) 6

(D) 7

First of all remember the formula for finding an average. Add all the given numbers 8 + 0 + 3 + 7 + 12 = 30. Now total numbers are 5. Divide 30 by 5, that is 6. So the answer is option number (C) that is 6.

NOTE: Must also count 0 in total numbers.
